That's right...only 2 weeks to go! Today, I picked the out the color of our "floating concrete hearth" (didn't expect to have any choices), the piece of raw barn wood for our living room fireplace mantle (really cool Barn Wood Warehouse with like a zillion pieces of wood to choose from) and our fireplace "fake logs". Harry was out of town so, I guess if he doesn't like it then it's just too bad!
We should have our flooring in by Tuesday March 3 (it's Alder BTW) and start to move things in slowly. Only 2 weeks past the "promised" date so I guess it's not that bad?! It seems like we could have been in a week earlier though because we had almost 8 days where pretty much no work was being done...so that was VERY FRUSTRATING!
The painting is supposed to wrap up this weekend. Electrician to install our fancy and probably overpriced (and ridiculously hard to get in a timely manner) fixtures on Monday. Flooring guy to install, sand and stain floors next week. Carpet install Monday 3/2. Barn wood doors to go in week of 3/2. Fireplace tile to be completed week of 3/2. Countertop install on Wednesday 3/4 and backsplash and plumbing reconnect on Thursday and Friday 3/5 and 3/6. Ready or not...Move in on 3/6!
I think if you decide to do a remodel, my advice is that you should not be the impatient, blunt, type A, control freak type(s) who hate surprises. A low-key hippie Buddhist who is totally easy going would work out really well. Just sayin'...think it might be easier on your contractor and allow you to sleep at night ;)
